How do I publish results to Active.com Results?

In order to publish results to Active.com Results you must be logged in and approved as an Active.com Results timer or organizer. Once logged in, all timers have a persistent yellow bar attached to the navigation with an ”Add Results” button in the upper right hand corner.

What kind of results can I publish to Active.com Results?

Active.com Results accepts most standard result files, including GRU, CSV, TXT, etc. For best results, timers and organizer should upload their results using the standard format and column naming conventions. Additional file formats such as Microsoft Word, PDF, Excel, HTML, etc can also be uploaded, but results for those files will not be searchable. For best results read use one of Active.com’s results templates to get started.

What is the Active.com Results dashboard?

The dashboard serves as the home base for timers and event organizers on Active.com Results. From your dashboard you quickly browse, search, sort and access all of the Results you manage on Active. All of your results posted to Active.com Results will appear here.

How do I add results to an event that registered through one of Active’s products?

If your event used one of Active’s tools for registration select the “Find & Import” option from the Add Results screen. To find your event within Active, enter the event title in the search field then select the search button. The search will return all events matching the query entered. Once you find your result select the “+ Result” for the event you would like post results to. Once you have added the event, you are ready to upload your results file.

How do I create a new event so I can add results to it?

If posting results for an event that did not use Active for registration, you can still post your results to Active.com Results. On the Add Results page select the “Create New Event” This feature will allow you quickly create an event with a name, description and details such as location, date and time.

How do I quickly add more results to an event I have already claimed or created?

To quickly add results to an event you have already claimed or created leverage the “Add Results”. Within the Add Results drop down, you have access to all of the events in your dashboard. Select the event and sub-event (optional) you would like to add results to.

How do I create or add a sub-event?

The first time you create an event you will need to create a sub-event in order to post a result. You will arrive on the create sub-event page immediately after claiming or creating the event within Active.com Results. If you only have one sub-event within your event, simply provide a broad name to the upload such as “Event Results”. When creating the sub-event, you will be prompted to provide basic information about the sub-event. This includes the sub-event title, event type, date/time and distance. When creating a sub-event for the first time you will be prompted to upload a result file.

How do I upload a results file?

To upload a results file you must first create an event and sub-event. The last step to creating a sub-event is “Choose your Results File”. Once selected you will be prompted to locate the result file you wish to upload on your computer. Select the file you wish to upload from your file browser and select open. Once you have selected your file you are ready to upload. Select “Upload your Results”.

What is happening when I upload my file?

Active.com Results stores millions of results. When you upload your file Active.com Results ingests, organizes and indexes all of the data within your files. Typically this happens in a matter of moments but with peak traffic (Saturday, Sunday & Monday) this may vary.

My file has uploaded, now what?

Once you have uploaded your file you will be returned to the Manage Event page. From this page you can view and edit the event you created. All of the items within the event description can be edited by simply clicking on the appropriate field. To edit your sub-event scroll to the “Event Results” section of the page and select the relevant item from the Actions column. These options include: edit column mapping, edit sub-event, delete, and new/replace upload.

Why are my columns are displaying the wrong data?

Active.com Results takes the column names from the files submitted and converts them to a standard format. Occasionally columns may be mismatched or omitted. If you are having an issue with the column mapping of one of your sub-event results file visit the Manage Event page for that sub-event, and select the “Edit Column Mapping” icon from the Actions area. On the Edit Column Mapping page you can manually set your column mapping to the corresponding standard label.

How do I set the event status?

Active.com Results allows timers and organizers to set the status of their results to indicate the state the results are currently in. States include:

  • Pending, live and final.Pending indicates that the event has not yet take place or results have not yet been posted.
  • Live: Indicates that the event is in progress, thus the results may be incomplete and actively changing.
  • Final: Serves as an indication that the results are considered final by the event timer and any corresponding Governing Body.

How do I set the visibility for my event or hide my event?

To set the visibility for your results visit the Manage Event page and leverage the Event Visibility area to set your preferred setting. Once an events visibility is yes a message will display that the setting has been applied. When marked as “Hidden” Event participants visiting the Active.com Results page for that event will receive a message stating that results are not yet available for that event.

Can I add other timers or resources to help me with my event?

Yes. Active.com Results allows timers to invite 3rd parties to contribute to their events. This allows timers and organizers who sub contract out portions of their work or receive help from outside resources to grant access to specific events within Active.com Results. To share permissions scroll to the “Contributors” section of the Manage Event page. In the “Add Contributors” field, enter the email of the resource(s) you would like to add. Once added that resource will only gain access to that event and can be removed at any time.

How do I preview my Results?

To preview your results, simply select the yellow preview button found in the upper right hand corner of all Manage Event pages. Events can previewed even if they are marked as hidden.

Where can I find templates and guidance for posting results?

On every timer/organizer’s dashboard navigation (yellow bar) appears a link titled “Results Template”. Results templates provides a resource of sample files and guidance for submitting your results to Active.com Results.
